Some people also use HandBrake or similar tools to compress the video, since 1080p discs can get over 30GB, and 4K discs easily reach the 60-70GB range. That leads into the software side of things, since you can use MakeMKV to copy the disc to your computer. For 4K discs, look into the suggestions in this MakeMKV forums thread.

Intel discontinued Intel SGX which is needed to play Protected 4K Streaming And 4K Bluray Content, now while players like cyber link can't play it anymore the only way is to rip them via MakeMKV which you need a special drive firmware to bypass the DRM, and it's also hell to rip discs from some studios like Lionsgate, best place to see it is r/makemkv and the website.
